“Cultural Heritage in Promotion and Development of the Baltic Sea Region” Forum

On 28-30 November 2018 the Baltic Sea States Forum “Cultural Heritage in Promotion and Development of the Baltic Sea Region” will be held at the National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk main facility – the Granaries on Ołowianka Island. The conference is organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and National Maritime Museum in Gdańsk.

The Forum is designed to be a platform of exchange of experiences and best practices of Baltic Sea Region experts in the domain of promotion, protection and safeguarding its rich and diversified cultural and technological maritime resources, which are constantly endangered by natural and civilization disasters, terrorism or liberate destruction. Apart from Polish scholars experts from each Baltic State have been invited.

The prospect of losing the cultural heritage should be an incentive for sustaining a multi-holder and supranational dialogue among Baltic States and to intensify activities such as scientific research, innovative and developmental projects and transfer of knowledge aiming at promotion and protection of the Baltic Sea heritage.

Special attention would be drawn to the increase of Baltic Sea Region potential through sustainable use of its tangible and intangible cultural assets. The presentation and discussions during the sessions will be focused on such topics as enhancement of regional attractiveness, fostering tourism and branding, development of cultural and educational projects. The Forum’s ambition will be a review of international research initiatives in the framework of the process of building knowledge on Baltic Sea Region and an occasion for problems identification, peer learning, exchange of opinions.

The working languages will be Polish and English.
