OKM in winter setting
A new department of the Polish Maritime Museum (Maritime Culture Centre – OKM) is a feast to the eyes of Gdańsk inhabitants strolling along the Motława River: Długie Pobrzeże, the street of Szafarnia, the wharf of Ołowianka Island. Today, when ice is covering the waters of the Motława River, the winter scenery makes the buildings of the old port even more charming. In the Maritime Culture Centre building, the installation of exhibitions is underway. One by one, the artefacts constituting the exhibition called “Boats from All Over the World” are being brought in. Most of the artefacts have been transported from the Vistula River Museum, Tczew, and from the Granaries on Ołowianka Island. On the first floor individual elements of an interactive exhibition “People – Boats – Ports” are being installed.
The Maritime Culture Centre will be opened at the end of April this year. An exact date of the grand opening of the new department of the Polish Maritime Museum will be announced within the coming weeks.
